BSc (Hons) Applied Accounting

Bachelor of Science Degree Program in Applied Accounting

A Unique Collaboration

The BSc in Applied Accounting is a prestigious undergraduate degree developed through a special partnership between Highwoods Institute (HI) and the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA). As an ACCA student, you have the opportunity to earn a degree while working towards your professional qualification. This Honours-level degree not only prepares students for successful careers as professional accountants but also equips them to contribute meaningfully to their organisations, communities, and society at large.

Programme Structure

This degree integrates ACCA professional studies into an academic framework. The knowledge and expertise acquired through professional exams are further enriched by the skills gained from completing the Research and Analysis Project (RAP), which is a vital component of the programme.

Eligibility for ACCA Members

To be eligible to submit the Research and Analysis Project as part of the BSc in Applied Accounting, you must:

  • Have successfully passed the three ACCA Applied Skills examinations: Financial Reporting (formerly F7), Audit and Assurance (formerly F8), and Financial Management (formerly F9).
  • Have passed, or obtained exemptions from, the remaining six papers at the Knowledge and Skills levels. Conditional exemptions do not qualify.
  • Completed the ACCA Ethics and Professional Skills module (or the previous Professional Ethics module).
  • Be up-to-date with ACCA subscription fees.
  • Maintain good standing as a full ACCA member, with an up-to-date CPD record, having passed papers 7, 8, and 9 (or equivalent) no earlier than 2000. If your qualifications for papers 1-6 were obtained before 2000, further review may be required.

Please note that if you have obtained exemptions from Financial Reporting, Audit and Assurance, and Financial Management, you are not eligible for the BSc in Applied Accounting.
